Nepenthes ‘Bill Bailey’ is a distinctive and highly regarded cultivar resulting from a carefully selected hybrid between Nepenthes singalana and Nepenthes ventricosa. Raised by Rob Cantley of Borneo Exotics, with Nepenthes singalana used as the female parent, this hybrid was chosen for its exceptional form, reliability and overall performance.
The plant beautifully blends the finest characteristics of both parent species. From Nepenthes singalana it inherits an elegant pitcher shape, strong coloration and adaptability to highland conditions, lending the plant a refined and striking appearance. Nepenthes ventricosa contributes its well-known vigour, resilience and robust pitcher structure, making this cultivar both visually impressive and rewarding to grow. The combination results in a plant that is attractive, dependable and well suited to a wide range of growers.
Nepenthes ‘Bill Bailey’ is typically supplied pre-potted, allowing it to settle quickly and be enjoyed straight away. It performs particularly well in conservatories and similar bright, frost-free environments where humidity and temperatures remain relatively stable. Like all Nepenthes, it is an efficient insect catcher, using its beautifully formed pitchers to trap and digest prey, adding both interest and a natural form of pest control.
