Euphorbia mammillaris ‘Variegata’ is a striking and highly decorative succulent, instantly recognisable for its upright, columnar stems marked with creamy white to pale yellow variegation. The bold colour contrast gives this plant a sculptural, almost architectural presence, making it a standout feature in cactus and succulent displays for garden centres and houseplant shops.
The stems grow in dense, branching clusters, forming an eye-catching clump over time. Each rib is lined with small, evenly spaced tubercles, giving the plant a textured, geometric appearance. The variegation is strongest in bright light and adds year-round interest, even when the plant is not in flower. Under good conditions, small yellow-green cyathia may appear near the stem tips, adding subtle seasonal detail.
Native to southern Africa, Euphorbia mammillaris ‘Variegata’ is well suited to indoor growing and is valued for its resilience and ease of care. It prefers a bright position with plenty of indirect light and can tolerate some gentle direct sun.
