Nepenthes ‘Diane’ is an attractive and dependable tropical pitcher plant, well suited for sale through garden centres and specialist house plant retailers. This cultivar is a selected hybrid of Nepenthes ventricosa × Nepenthes maxima, combining the resilience and adaptability of ventricosa with the elegant pitcher shape and decorative colouring of maxima. The result is a consistent, visually appealing plant with good performance under standard indoor retail conditions.
The plant produces clean, upright foliage with tendrils that develop into well-formed pitchers, typically showing green tones with red or bronze flushing. These pitchers function as natural insect traps, supplying the plant with its nutritional requirements and creating strong customer interest at point of sale. Nepenthes ‘Diane’ offers good bench life and maintains its ornamental value over an extended period.
For best results, Nepenthes ‘Diane’ should be positioned in a warm environment with bright, indirect light and moderate humidity. Water with rainwater or demineralised water only, keeping the growing medium evenly moist but never waterlogged. No fertiliser or manual feeding is required. Unlike temperate carnivorous plants, this hybrid does not require a dormancy period and can be grown year-round in stable indoor conditions.
