This plant forms a delightful cluster of pink, bulbous traps accompanied by tall, dark pink flowers. Virtually evergreen, the older traps gradually recede as new traps emerge. Being a more southerly subspecies, it’s not as hardy as Sarracenia purpurea ssp purpurea. With trap heights of only about 15cm, it’s an excellent choice for a sunny or shady windowsill, although the traps may not attain the same deep pink-red coloration in shadier spots. It rightfully enjoys immense popularity among enthusiasts. When grown indoors, adding rainwater inside the traps aids in digestion and enhances fly-catching efficiency.
