Sarracenia farnhamii, commonly referred to as Farnham’s Pitcher Plant, bears the name of William Farnham, an early 19th-century naturalist who first discovered the plant in Alabama. This species thrives in bogs and wetlands, forming clumps of upright, trumpet-shaped leaves characterized by green coloration with reddish-brown veins. As a relatively small pitcher plant, Sarracenia farnhamii typically produces leaves ranging from 15 to 30 cm in length. Its flowers, although small and inconspicuous, typically emerge in late spring or early summer. Similar to other pitcher plants, Sarracenia farnhamii necessitates a moist, acidic growing medium and is well-suited to nutrient-poor environments.
